AUDIENCE SHARE OF ENTERTAINMENT CHANNELS DECREASED DUE TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES AND UKRAINE

Audience share decreased in 2Q214 for CTC Media channels: among Russians in the age 10 – 45 till 10,2% vs 11,6% in 2Q2013, Domashniy Channel – among women in the age 25 – 29 till 3,3% vs 3,5% in 2Q2013, Perez – among Russians in the age 25-49 till 1,9% vs 2,5% in 2Q2013. The decrease was observed in 1Q2014 vs same period in 2013: CTC from 11,4% till 10,5%, Domashniy - from 3,3% till 3,2%, Perez — from 2,4% till 2,1%.
According to analyst Alexander Vengarovich, share of entertainment TV channels decreased in 1Q2014 due to the Olympic Games in Sochi, as everyone watched the games, next info occasion - is what happened in Ukraine, analysts from Barclays Capital assumed that during this time, TV viewers preferred news channels rather than entertainment.
