Federal Anti-Monopoly Service gave Russian cellular operators a year to decrease prices on international roaming services willingly. In case operators will refuse to do this, FAS will take further measures – including government regulation of prices in this sphere.
So-called Road-Map Roaming will operate in November for Russian cellular operators. It was developed by regulation bodies of 15 countries (Austria, Turkey, Egypt, India, Russia) and members of Regional Union in Communication Sphere. The map should stimulate operators to decrease prices on roaming. This information was told by Deputy Head of FAS in Russia – Anatoly Golomolzin. (Vedomosti).
This Road Map includes 2 methods to decrease tariffs – “Soft” and “Severe”. The first one – operators will make decisions on pricing policy. This scheme will start to operate starting November 2014 and will operate during 1 year. Second one – international roaming agreements will be revised.
