According to J’son & Partners Consulting (results of the survey), around 2/3 (around 70%) of operators explore NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) and SDN ( Software-Defined Networking) opportunities.
Analysts also found out that over half of operators – are testing the technology, as of August – September 2014.
"Most of the surveyed, consider that the implementation of SDN/NFV technologies on commercial network will be in 2-3 years, i.e. 2016-2017. Around 7% of the respondents – it will happen already next year 2015, and 29% had trouble with an answer” – was said by the company’s representatives.
Besides, most of the surveyed companies couldn’t specify, in which network’s part first changes can be expected. Those, who could, said that the novelty is being planned to implement in the following segments – package core EPC, IMS, trunk network (implementation of NFV in networks domain) and operators’ DPC.
