On the steps of Amazon: Russian data center Selectel launches “Virtual Private Cloud” storage service

Selectel, a major commercial data center operator in Russia, has just launched the “Virtual Private Cloud” (VPC) — an offer that it says is new in Russia but inspired by the models of Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Rackspace.


“The VPC isn’t private in the traditional sense that it belongs to one client, but it’s not public either. We’re offering an isolated cloud infrastructure where a user can create virtual machines, connect to block devices, load virtual machine images, configure any network topology regardless of complexity, and execute a variety of other operations,” Selectel PR Director Alexander Vechersky explained to East West Digital News.
