REFORM: UNIVERSAL COMMUNICATION SERVICES – START IN VOLOGDA

First tripartite agreement was signed between the Ministry of Communication (Nikolai Nikiforov), Rostelecom (Sergey Kalugin) and Vologda Region Administration (Oleg Kuvshinnikov) about cooperation in terms of reform about universal communication services.

 

The signing ceremony was during the International Investment Forum Sochi 2014 and opened the way towards practical stage in implementation of the largest in the world project – construction of fiber-optic communication network – in order to provide Internet access to Russian population.

 

Nikolai Nikiforov (The Minister of Communication) said, “No other country implement such project – over 200 thousand km of fiber-optic communication network. Communication development in our country is an everyday necessity for modern population. This is not just access to the network, but opportunity to receive government service online, remote education, access to medical services and many other modern services”.
