Data centers for internal and centralized data processing, storage and retrieval of information, services and applications, i.e. corporate data centers, are not considered.

 

J'son & Partners Consulting presents brief results of the recently completed study of the Russian commercial data centers market.


Usable area of commercial data centers in the first half of 2011 amounted to 58,480 square meters. The usable area increased by 56% as compared to 2010. 49% of the data centers usable area lies in Moscow and the Moscow region2. According to J'son and Partners Consulting estimations, data center revenue for the first half of 2011 amounted to 131.4 million dollars.

 

 

Considering the current economic situation J'son & Partners Consulting formed two possible forecast for the market of commercial data centers: pessimistic and optimistic.

At the time of this release the leading player of the market is a group of companies "MegaFon", the total area of the company’s data center made up 13.2% of the total area of commercial data centers in Russia.

 

 

Factors of the market development

 

The most important factors of the commercial data centers development are as follows:

 

 

Projects planned for 2011-2012.

 

Many large projects are planned for 2011-2012. Some of them are as follows:

• DataSpace Partners implements the construction of a data centers network of Tier 3 level, the project is carried out with the support of Western investment funds. Amount of the planned investment is $ 600 million. At the moment, the first network data center is put into operation and is located on the street Sharikopodshipnikovskaya in the south-east of Moscow, the area is 5,000 square meters., capacity - 1000 racks.

• In 2012 ISG plans to start operation of the data center in Dubna (special economic zone).

• IBS DataFort started building a data center in Dubna, a total area of 4400 square meters and capacity of 800 racks.

• The company «Ai-Teko» plans to launch a new machine rooms in the data center, "TrastInfo", whose total area is 800 square meters, usable - 300 square meters, the capacity of the new rooms will be 250 racks. The company also plans to open a new server complex in data center in Moscow, with the total capacity of 300 racks, total area - 700 square meters, usable area – 500 square meters.

 

For 2010-2011 three data centers projects have been certified: Samara Data Center Company "MegaFon", the Moscow data center company "CRIC", Moscow data center company DataSpace Partners. All three data centers are at the level of fault tolerance Tier 3.
